Spit And Sawdust
21 Bartholomew Street
Elephant and Castle

Spit And Sawdust is an independent Pub and restaurant in Elephant and Castle, South London.
Having been bombed twice during the Blitz of WWII, this historic pub has seen some gruesome times since it first started serving locals back in 1856.
Recently taken over by three friends, the Spit and Sawdust has been lovingly -and painstakingly- refurbished & modernised into a classic London boozer with a contemporary twist.
Their jaw-dropping array of 20+ beer lines including real ales, lagers and craft beers is not only testament to the guys’ passion for beer, but probably the best selection in Elephant & Castle. On top of that, the spirits shelves look as if they could give way with all the gins & whiskeys standing shoulder to shoulder - all 40 of them.
Playing host to several different pop-up food vendors at the weekend and with a permanent food residency taken by Pie Minister, whose pies are spectacular, the team at Spit and Sawdust clearly have an appreciation for good food too.
